Eric D. Dowell is a member of Pryor Cashman’s Litigation Group. His practice focuses on complex commercial, intellectual property and real estate litigation, as well as regulatory investigations and advisory matters. Eric has represented clients in both civil and criminal matters in federal and state court. Eric’s experience includes representation of:
- Media and entertainment companies in commercial and intellectual property actions, including the successful defense of Google and YouTube in copyright infringement action brought by various media content owners.
- A major patent enforcement company in a trade secret misappropriation action brought by a former acquisition target.
- Investors in a fraud action against developers and Caribbean lender associated with failed Turks & Caicos resort development.
- Non-profit art foundation in a litigation against a former officer and director accused of breach of fiduciary duty and conversion of artworks.
- Snapple and Mistic Brands in a breach of contract action brought by a former Greek distributor.
- Unilever in an advisory capacity in relation to its acquisition of a U.S. company’s intellectual property assets.
- Lloyd’s of London in connection with its evaluation of case-specific litigation reserves.
- A criminal defendant accused of violating the Mann Act.
- A criminal defendant accused of bank fraud.
Eric received his J.D. in 2004 from the University of Virginia School of Law, where he was runner-up in the two-year long William Minor Law Moot Court competition and served as a Senior Editor of The Journal of Law & Politics. He received a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies in 2000 from the University of Virginia, where he was a Lawn Resident and a member of the Jefferson Literary & Debating Society.
