Partner Robert Ray Comments On Amnesty Offered By DOJ For Antitrust Violations
Ethisphere.comRobert Ray, a partner in Pryor Cashman’s Litigation Group, was quoted extensively in an article posted on Etishphere.com on January 7, 2008 about the deals currently being offered by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), which the article describes as “Tell the prosecution everything you know about the antitrust violation and the companies involved in exchange for amnesty from criminal prosecution for the corporation, its officers, directors and staff.”
As noted by Ray in the article (“Amnesty – If You Can’t Be First, At Least Be Second”), “amnesty is a huge incentive.” Although the article notes that complete amnesty from criminal prosecution is granted only to the first company that cooperates fully, Ray stated that being the second company to apply for amnesty has some benefits, too, including reductions in sentencing and fines.
