Eleven Pryor Cashman Partners Selected As 2008 New York Super Lawyers

Pryor Cashman is pleased to announce that eleven of its partners have been selected for inclusion on the New York Super Lawyers list for 2008. The 2008 New York Super Lawyers list appears in the New York Super Lawyers – Metro Edition magazine and was also in a special advertising supplement to The New York Times Magazine on September 28, 2008.
Only five percent of New York Metro attorneys were named to the 2008 New York Super Lawyers list. The eleven Pryor Cashman partners, like all of the attorneys on the list, were selected through an extensive process based on peer nominations, blue ribbon panel review and independent research. Jamie M. Brickell handles a variety of complex commercial cases. His experience includes matters relating to antitrust, securities fraud and RICO, intellectual property, corporate, partnership and joint venture litigation, as well as disputes concerning non-compete agreements and the protection of proprietary information and materials.
Tom J. Ferber represents a variety of clients in the entertainment, publishing and other industries in copyright infringement, trademark, trade dress, false advertising, unfair competition, right of publicity, privacy and defamation actions. His practice includes commercial, intellectual property and entertainment litigation. Tom also counsels clients in risk evaluation in these areas and strategies for minimizing exposure, particularly motion picture studios and errors and omissions insurers needing to determine the insurability of potential film and television projects.
James A. Janowitz is Chair of the Entertainment Group and also a member of the Litigation Group. Jim’s entertainment practice focuses primarily on film financing and production and he has led numerous complex multi-picture financings as well as the financing of individual pictures and other assets. His litigation practice focuses on complex commercial litigation and is broadly based, involving a wide variety of class action and RICO litigation, as well as entertainment litigation.
Bradley A. Kaufman focuses on commercial office, retail, and industrial leasing transactions. For more than 20 years, Brad has been responsible for acquisition, leasing and financing transactions aggregating many millions of square feet, representing owners and tenants in New York City and nationally. Brad was also included on the New York Super Lawyers list for 2007.
Richard L. Kay is Chair of the Trusts and Estates Group and specializes in all aspects of financial and estate planning and trust and estate administration, as well as litigation relating to will contests, disputed accounting proceedings and similar matters. Richard has broad experience in representing a diverse client base including wealthy family groups, individuals and corporate executives and has considerable expertise representing estates and individuals with significant literary assets.
Ronald B. Kremnitzer is Co-Chair of the Real Estate Group. His practice includes property acquisitions and sales (commercial office buildings, hotels, residential multi-family, shopping centers, vacant land), development (land use and construction financing), financings (conventional mortgage loans, equity participation and other secured and unsecured lending), workouts and debt restructuring, cooperative/condominiums (conversion, new construction and bulk disposition of unsold units), and leasing.
Stephen B. Rodner represents clients in transactional matters in all areas of the entertainment business, including theatre, film, television, home video, Internet and e-commerce. Steve has an extensive intellectual property practice, including the prosecution of trademark applications in the U.S. and throughout the world and representation of clients in connection with all trademark related matters. He also advises clients on issues of copyrights and copyright related matters. Steve was previously named to the New York Super Lawyers list in both 2006 and 2007.
Brad D. Rose is Chair of the Intellectual Property Group and specializes in the protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights in the nature of trademarks and copyrights. Brad also leads the firm’s Branding, Licensing and Enforcement practice area. His client roster includes individuals and entities in the entertainment industry, including recording artists, actors and actresses, fashion designers, apparel and beauty companies, and trademark licensors/licensees involved in a multitude of different consumer product and service businesses.
Ronald H. Shechtman is Pryor Cashman’s Managing Partner and Chair of the Labor and Employment Group. He represents diverse clients in labor-management relations matters and in employment matters dealing with the increasing legal complexity of today’s workplace. Ron also represents many small businesses, non-profit organizations and artists in a variety of matters.
Howard Siegel is a senior partner in the Entertainment Group. He is the former Chair of the Section on Entertainment, Arts and Sports Law of the New York State Bar Association, former Chair of the New York State Bar Association Committee on the Music and Recording Industry, and an Associate Member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences.
Donald S. Zakarin is Chair of the Litigation Group. Don represents clients in litigation covering a broad spectrum of complex legal and business activities, including corporate and securities, antitrust, foreign exchange, copyright and trademark, and general commercial litigation. He has successfully defended corporate clients and individual executives and directors in federal securities fraud class actions and shareholder derivative suits and has guided both corporate and individual clients through SEC and N.Y. State Attorney General investigations.
