Partner Robert Ray Appears On NBC News To Discuss Spitzer Investigation
November 7, 2008Partner Robert Ray was interviewed by News 4 New York, the NBC affiliate in New York City, on November 7, 2008 in connection with the conclusion of the Eliot Spitzer investigation and the U.S. Attorney’s decision not to prosecute former New York State Governor Spitzer for violating various federal laws relating to prostitution, including the Mann Act.
Ray, who is a former Assistant U.S. Attorney and served as Independent Counsel for several years, opined that U.S. Attorney Michael Garcia properly found that no substantial federal interest warranted prosecution of the former Governor and that state and local prosecutors ordinarily would have decided whether or not proceed, but since they deferred here to the U.S. Attorney, the case was now effectively closed.
