Pryor Cashman Bankruptcy Partner Mark Jacobs was in demand to comment on the Chrysler bankruptcy filing. Jacobs was interviewed by, among others, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and Bloomberg News.

In an April 30, 2009 story entitled “Chrysler Judge Gonzalez Steered Enron, WorldCom Cases,” Bloomberg News reporter Christopher Scinta noted that the bankruptcy will be “a complex case that will include the U.S. government as a key player [and] will be steered by the same judge who oversaw the bankruptcies of Enron Corp.”

Jacobs, who represented creditors in the Enron case, told Bloomberg News that “[i]t’s not often in a bankruptcy that you see the U.S. Department of the Treasury as the DIP lender. Never, actually.”

When asked to comment on Judge Gonzalez, whom Jacobs had appeared before in the Enron case, Jacobs responded: “He’s not going to give them a free pass. He will hear people out, and hear their arguments carefully.”

The Canadian press also picked up Jacobs' comments. On May 9, 2009, the National Post's Financial Post & FP Investing published Jacobs' additional coments on Judge Gonzalez: "He’s fair, smart, diligent and hardworking. I think he will be fair and balanced.”
