Pryor Cashman Promotes Two Attorneys In New York Office

Pryor Cashman LLP (www.pryorcashman.com) is pleased to announce the recent promotion of attorneys Jonathan T. Shepard and Elizabeth Chen to Partner and Of Counsel in the firm’s Litigation and Corporate Groups respectively, effective January 1, 2010. Both Shepard and Chen are based in the firm’s New York office.

Since joining the firm in 2005, Shepard has represented clients in a broad spectrum of complex legal and business litigation, including in the areas of hedge funds, securities, intellectual property, bankruptcy and complex commercial litigation. He has successfully tried cases for corporate clients and individuals in both federal and state courts and handled complex arbitration proceedings before AAA, JAMS and FINRA.

Shepard is a 2001 cum laude graduate of Syracuse University College of Law, where he was Associate Editor of the Syracuse Law Review, a Dean’s Scholarship Recipient and a member of the Justinian Honorary Law Society. Elizabeth Fei Chen joined Pryor Cashman in October 2009 as a member of the firm’s Corporate Group and China Practice. She is playing an important role in the continuing growth of the firm’s China corporate practice, working as well in general corporate law and securities. She is primarily involved with private Chinese companies going public in the U.S. Chen works on all phases of transactions, from legal analysis in connection with restructuring private companies for purposes of going public to advising public companies regarding compliance requirements under U.S. securities laws and regulations. The majority of Chen’s clients are based in China and cover a wide range of industries, including manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, software and technology.

Chen was educated in China (LL.B. in International Economic Law from Fudan University School of Law), the U.K. (LL.M. in Commercial Law from the University of Cambridge) and the U.S. (LL.M. in International Legal Studies from New York University School of Law). Prior to joining Pryor Cashman, she was a senior associate at Guzov Ofsink, LLC. Between 2002 and 2003, she worked in Shanghai, first at one of the leading Chinese law firms, Fangda Partners, and then at the Shanghai offices of an international U.S. firm.
