Pryor Cashman Hosts Spring Reception of US-China Legal Exchange Foundation
March 6, 2010Pryor Cashman was proud to host the Spring Reception of The US-China Legal Exchange Foundation (UCLEF) at its offices on March 7, 2010. Elizabeth Chen, Counsel to the firm and a member of Pryor Cashman's China Practice Group, helped organize the event and is a member of UCLEF.
The US-China Legal Exchange Foundation is a non-profit educational and professional organization, located in New Jersey. For the purpose of promoting professionalism, education, civilization, and cooperation, UCLEF is dedicated, among other things, to: strengthening legal information exchange and cultural communication between China and the U.S.; promoting cooperation among legal scholars and practitioners from China and the U.S.; supporting and undertaking independent legal research, education, and training; initiating and developing public forums, conferences, and seminars concerning relevant Chinese and U.S. legal issues; undertaking and assisting in publishing activities in connection with legal research and education; and providing legal aid and public-interest-oriented programs to the public in China and the U.S.
At the March 7, 2010 reception at Pryor Cashman,the UCLEF’s pipelined programs were introduced and the Chinese-American Lawyers Club of UCLEF was inaugurated. The keynote speech, Mergers and Acquisitions, an Unprecedented Opportunity in China, was given by Guest Speaker Mr. Xiao Jin Quan, Senior Partner of Dacheng Law Offices and Director of Commerce & Corporate Committee of All China Lawyers Association. Mr. Xiao’s speech was followed by a question and answer session on regulations of private equity funds in China.
