The Legal 500 US 2012 has again named Pryor Cashman among the top Copyright law firms in the United States.

According to the publication, which obtains its information by speaking with corporate counsel throughout the country, Pryor Cashman “is particularly recommended for high-value music copyright infringement matters, and broadly acts for numerous high-profile artists as well as film and entertainment associations or companies – such as Lions Gate Films, Star Branding and Sony/ATV Publishing – in litigation, copyright registration and licensing.”

The publication also singled out three Pryor Cashman partners:  Donald Zakarin, Frank Scibilia and Brad D. Rose.

As noted by The Legal 500 US 2012, “Litigation chair Donald Zakarin’s knowledge, confidence, business and legal acumen is unparalleled.” Among other matters, Zakarin “acted for independent music trade organization Merlin in reaching a settlement with LimeWire over copyright infringement damages.”

Frank Scibilia, Co-Chair of Pryor Cashman’s Digital Media Group “has excellent industry understanding and is a good advocate” and “focuses on copyright issues in the digital media space.” The Legal 500 US 2012 notes that Scibilia and Zakarin “were part of the team that represented EMI Publishing in bringing a copyright infringement case against MP3tunes, achieving partial summary judgment in the client’s favor.”

Brad D. Rose, Chair of the firm’s Intellectual Property Group, “handles copyright protection and enforcement matters. He also successfully defended music artist Kanye West and music companies Roc-A-Fella Records and UMG Recordings against a copyright infringement claim brought by artist Vincent Peters.”
