Pryor Cashman Associate Suyin So Helps Organize Annual Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund Event
June 13, 2007The Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund (AALDEF) will be holding its Annual Summer Cocktail Party on Wednesday, June 13, 2007, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at HOME, located at 532 W. 27th Street (between 10th & 11th Aves.).
AALDEF is a national civil rights organization providing legal services and community education and outreach to the Asian American community. AALDEF works to secure human rights for all by focusing on critical issues affecting Asian Americans, including immigrant rights, civic participation and voting rights, economic justice for workers, language access to services, Census policy, affirmative action, youth rights and educational equity, and the elimination of anti-Asian violence, police misconduct, and human trafficking. Founded in 1974, AALDEF is also a founding member of the Public Interest Law Center, a consortium of the nation's leading legal rights groups, including the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund and the Puerto Rican Legal Defense and Education Fund.
Pryor Cashman associate Suyin So, a member of the Event Committee, was a summer intern at AALDEF in 2002, where she worked on a redistricting litigation in federal court, registered voters and researched constitutional and immigration-related issues for civil rights litigation.
