Entertainment Partner Karen Robson spoke at the 2010 International Film & TV Finance Summit which took place on March 8th and 9th at the Luxe Hotel in Los Angeles, California.  

Robson participatied in a panel discussion entitled “Update on Availability of International Production Incentives in Financing an Independent Feature Film – Increasingly Important role of International Tax Incentives in Movie Making.” The topics discussed included:

• Obtaining tax incentives from more than one country?
• Strategies in utilizing international production incentives
• Getting the credits turned into cash
• How to fund an Indie film in reverse for the incentives
• Currency issues when filming abroad
• Audit and compliance issues
• Tax, accounting and payroll issues
• Use of co-production treaties
• Which country must be the “lead” producer-copyright issues
• Which countries offer best incentives for special effects/animation  

The Countries covered included Australia, Canada, Germany, the UK, Ireland, Italy and Belgium.
