Christopher A. Lau is a member of Pryor Cashman’s Private Client Group and Trusts + Estates Practice.

Chris advises high net worth individuals and families regarding multigenerational transfers of assets, including closely held business interests, marketable securities, art collections, real estate, and life insurance policies. He counsels individuals from a variety of backgrounds, including private equity and hedge fund principals, real estate investors, business owners, and entrepreneurs.

A particular focus of his practice is estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer tax planning. Chris prepares wills, trusts, and other documents necessary to effectuate an estate plan. He advises clients regarding the funding of trusts, whether through direct or formula gifting or leveraged sales, and the administration and taxation of such trusts. In addition, he advises clients on the structuring of new investments and the restructuring of existing businesses with a focus on transferring wealth and control to younger generations in a tax-efficient manner.

Before attending law school, Chris served as a Teach For America corps member in Newark, New Jersey.
