Pryor Cashman Partner Judith L. Poller, Co-Chair of the firm’s Family Law Group, spoke on April 28, 2010 at the New York Association of Collaborative Professionals’ (NYACP) presentation on Families with Special Needs Children in Collaborative Divorce – A Panel Discussion with Legal, Financial and Psychological Experts. The event took place at The Williams Club, 24 East 39th Street.

The NYACP program addressed the unique needs of families with children who have special needs, including the following topics:.

  • How do you define a “special needs” child
  • Essential factors to consider in a divorce settlement 
  • Necessary estate and financial planning
  • Psychological impact of a special needs child on divorce negotiations and post divorce issues
  • How special needs children may affect relationships with siblings, and the divorce process

Poller was joined on the panel by Michelle Smith, who is a Certified Financial Planner, Certified Divorce Financial Analyst, and divorce mediator, and Dr. Peggy Herzog, a Clinical Psychologist, Collaborative Mental Health Specialist and Child Specialist.
