Dyan Finguerra-DuCharme, a Partner in Pryor Cashman’s Intellectual Property and Litigation Groups, is the subject of an entire chapter in "Legally Mom", a new book authored by Anne Murphy Brown and published by the American Bar Association (ABA) in June 2012. As described by the ABA on its website:

“Every year, more and more women lawyers face a heartrending challenge: how do you balance having a child with a thriving legal career? While there have certainly been giant strides in the number of firms and companies that offer flexible hours, part-time opportunities, and other options for their working lawyer-moms, it's still difficult for women with small children to make the same amount of money and be on the same advancement track as their male colleagues.

"Legally Mom" profiles the lives of more than twenty women practicing law at different stages of their career and with varied ages of children. This collection brings together a selection of deeply felt, personal narratives by smart, interesting women who explore the continued inequality of the sexes in law practice and suggest changes that could make firms more family friendly workplaces. The contributors hail from a wide array of practices and bring with them a variety of perspectives, including those of single and step parents, in the book's seven parts:

Part I: Introduction
Part II: Law Firm Living
Part III: The Corporate World
Part IV: Working for Uncle Sam
Part V: Back to School
Part VI: Hanging Out a Shingle
Part VII: The Road Less Travelled

Each woman has had experiences that have informed her choices on raising children while juggling a legal career, to which all working mothers can relate. Candid, provocative, and sometimes hilarious, the essays in Legally Mom speak to and offer support for any woman attempting to combine work and family.”

Finguerra-DuCharme, who joined Pryor Cashman in August 2012, is the subject of Chapter Three of "Legally Mom", entitled “The Big Apple Legal Mom.” To read that chapter, please click here.
