Partner Jeffrey Johnson Talks to Forbes About Amazon Silk’s Privacy Policy

Pryor Cashman Partner, Jeffrey Johnson, spoke to Forbes.com for its article, “This Is What Jeff Bezos Should Tell Congress About Amazon Silk.”

The October 16, 2011 article discusses the issue of Amazon Silk’s, the browser built for Amazon’s new Kindle Fire, capabilities to collect data about its users, and concerns amongst members of Congress over what Amazon plans to do with the data it collects. Amidst these speculations, Congress has given Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos three weeks to respond to a list of questions regarding such matters of privacy.

Although the article mentions other retailers, such as Wal-Mart, Best Buy and Verizon Wireless, who collect consumer data for business purposes, Johnson told the publication, usually, “companies want to give the impression that there are fences or perimeters around people’s data that they are promising not to cross.”
