Pryor Cashman successfully represented actor George Clooney in obtaining the summary dismissal of three litigations brought against him arising from a 2007 altercation with two Ramada Inn security guards in upstate New York. Clooney was staying  at the Ramada Inn while filming the motion picture "Michael Clayton."

The plaintiffs asserted claims against Clooney for vicarious liability, negligent hiring and supervision, and negligence. Pryor Cashman moved for summary judgment dismissing all three litigations. On January 30, 2009, the N.Y. Supreme Court, Orange County, granted the motion, holding that: (1) the security guards allegedly responsible for plaintiffs’ injuries were neither Clooney’s agents nor employees; (2) Clooney did not otherwise supervise or control the security guards; and (3) Clooney’s alleged conduct on the night of the altercation was not negligent.

Litigation Partner David Rose represented Clooney in the three litigations.
