Managing Partner Ronald Shechtman Elected to Fourth Term and Colleen Caden Named to Executive Committee
Pryor Cashman LLP is pleased to announce that Ronald H. Shechtman, chair of the Labor & Employment Group, has been elected to serve his fourth, three-year term as the firm’s managing partner. Shechtman became the first non-founding partner to serve as managing partner when he was initially elected in 2007, succeeding Gideon Cashman.
“I am pleased to continue in this role,” Shechtman said. “As my longevity in the position grows, our partnership has grown younger with over 30% of our partners joining the rank since I became managing partner. I look forward to continuing my role in growing the firm and extending our expertise into new areas.”
In alignment with Shechtman’s appointment and the firm’s commitment to develop leadership among the younger partners , Colleen L. Caden, partner and chair of the Immigration Group, was recently elected to serve a three-year term on the firm’s Executive Committee. Caden’s appointment comes directly on the heels of partner David Rose’s addition to the committee last year. The seven-person committee oversees the management and strategic direction of the firm.
In the past several years, Pryor Cashman has resolved to bridge generations by inviting numerous dynamic young lawyers to join the partnership ranks. The National Law Journal named the firm to its 2015 “Midsize Hot List” for this very reason, noting the firm’s younger energy and commitment to growing practices in emerging industries and areas that are more in step with today’s fast-paced world.
“When I decided to join Pryor Cashman in 2009, I knew it would be an invaluable move for both my practice and clients. Today, I truly cannot imagine being anywhere else,” said Caden. “I am thrilled to join the firm’s Executive Committee, and look forward to supporting the firm’s ongoing innovation and growth.”
Shechtman represents diverse clients in labor management relations and employment matters. A prominent attorney for management and artists in theater and dance, Shechtman helps protect intellectual property rights, negotiates contracts and resolves contentious collective bargaining issues. He is longtime counsel to the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society, the independent national union of stage directors and choreographers, the Association of Theatrical Press Agents and Managers, and Ballet Hispanico. Shechtman also negotiates executive employment agreements on behalf of both employers and employees in a myriad of industries.
Caden joined Pryor Cashman in 2009 as a partner and launched the Immigration practice, of which she is chair. Since joining Pryor Cashman, she has exponentially increased the size of the immigration practice, increased the volume of matters handled by the group and expanded the firm’s client roster. Caden’s practice focuses on business immigration law representing a diverse client base in the consumer products, consulting, media, and pharmaceutical industries, among others, as well as the arts and professional sports. In fact, Caden is one of the few business immigration lawyers to develop a robust and dynamic professional sports practice offering highly specialized immigration counsel to major and minor sports leagues, teams, and foreign athletes. She works with clients on all aspects of the management of their U.S. immigration programs from strategic advisory services to compliance programs.
