Crain’s Names Caden a Leading Woman Lawyer
Colleen Caden, Chair of Pryor Cashman’s Immigration Group and a member of the firm’s Executive Committee, has been recognized by Crain’s as one of the top 100 “Leading Women Lawyers” in New York City.
Per Crain’s, “The 100 New Yorkers named to the inaugural list are trailblazers who found multiple paths to excellence. These are women who juggle both distinguished careers and exceptional civil and philanthropic activities. They are role models for the next generation of female lawyers.”
Long regarded as one of the premier immigration attorneys in the United States, Caden founded Pryor Cashman’s Immigration Group in 2009 and helped establish the firm’s Women’s Leadership Initiative the following year. Under her stewardship, the Immigration Group has more than tripled in size and represents a diverse roster of clients including The Associated Press, Mylan, Inc., The Movado Group and The National Basketball Association (NBA), among many others.
Caden is one of very few attorneys in the country to have carved out a niche representing professional sports leagues, teams, athletes and professional staff in immigration-related matters. She has also written extensively on the immigration repercussions of President Trump’s proposed travel bans, as well as the immigration issues that arise for families in the context of divorce.
Additionally, Caden serves as pro bono counsel for an employee of The Associated Press - an Iraqi-based software engineer - whose efforts to secure U.S. permanent residence through a Special Immigrant Visa program were denied. Caden is in the process of appealing the denial of the permanent residence application on behalf of the engineer.
