David Elbaum is a partner in Pryor Cashman’s Litigation Group, where he focuses his practice on securities and commercial litigation, and government investigations.

David has represented prominent companies and their officers and directors in high-stakes disputes including shareholder, derivative, M+A, and antitrust litigation. He regularly defends clients in investigations and enforcement matters initiated by the Department of Justice, the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Federal Trade Commission, and other regulatory agencies.

Before joining Pryor Cashman, David practiced at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP for more than two decades, where he represented leading private equity firms, financial institutions, and public companies. His matters there included disputes arising from the bankruptcies of Puerto Rico and the Boy Scouts of America; Charles Schwab's $22 billion acquisition of Ameritrade; Dell's acquisition of EMC Corporation; and Alibaba's $25 billion initial public offering.

Earlier in his career, David was a partner at Brune & Richard LLP. After law school, he served as a law clerk to the Honorable Harold Baer Jr. of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.
