Chambers Ranks Pryor Cashman Among the Best in the U.S.

Chambers USA 2015 has once again ranked Pryor Cashman as one of the top law firms in the U.S. in the fields of Media & Entertainment and Immigration and five firm attorneys were highlighted as leaders in their respective fields this year.

The firm placed in Band 2 in the Media & Entertainment: Film, Music, Television & Theater - New York category with Chambers noting that the firm is an industry leader with a “longstanding media and entertainment practice with a multidisciplinary approach. [It] offers communications expertise and corporate financing, as well as IP and litigation capabilities.”

The firm’s litigation practice placed in Band 3 in Media & Entertainment: Entertainment Litigation category noting that the firm has “a high-profile practice with full-service capabilities. [It] represents major music industry clients including publishers, recording companies and senior executives as well as motion picture studios and television networks, among others.”

Pryor Cashman’s Immigration Practice entered the rankings this year with a Band 4 placement in the Immigration - New York section and was recognized for its “burgeoning immigration practice known for providing savvy and strategic counsel on matters spanning temporary and permanent visas, naturalization and family-based issues. Corporate and individual clients value the firm's full-service capabilities, consular connections and expedient service. Pryor Cashman is a go-to immigration firm for a host of professional athletes and sports teams.” Clients, in particular, note of their experience with Pryor Cashman attorneys: "We work in an extremely fast-paced and hectic industry and they are beyond responsive and accommodating to extremely tight and difficult timelines."

Remaining in the highest tier in the tables this year, Howard Siegel was recognized in Music again this year. Chambers emphasizes that Siegel "offers clients a wealth of experience in the entertainment business and particular expertise in the music industry. His client list is comprised of high-profile executives, major producers and songwriters."

In the Media & Entertainment: Copyright & Contract Disputes - New York category, seasoned litigators Brad Rose and Donald Zakarin ranked in the second tier. Chambers specifically recognizes Rose for his copyright and trademark law skills. Clients say that "he is very practical and he takes a business approach to the problems we face." Peers say, "He is good to deal with and knowledgeable in the field." Zakarin is highlighted for his “music industry expertise and representation of major music publishers.” Clients call him "an excellent litigator."

James Janowitz ranked in Band 3 in the Media & Entertainment: Film & Television - New York category and is praised for his “representation of executives in the entertainment business. He operates an impressive practice and handles litigation and transactional matters.”

In addition to the firm’s notable work in the media and entertainment, Partner Avram Morell was recognized in Immigration - New York in Band 1, a move up from his Band 2 ranking last year. Chambers notes that Morell is "super-smart" and "articulate" and comes “highly recommended for his expertise across a host of employment-based immigration and nationality issues, acting for a diverse client base including entrepreneurs, investors and Fortune 500 companies.” In addition, Morell was recognized again in Band 3 nationally, noting that he “has quickly made a name for himself in the immigration community for his expertise in devising efficient corporate immigration programs and his compliance capabilities. To arrive at these rankings, Chambers' staff of full-time researchers conducts in-depth interviews with attorneys and clients and makes selections based on satisfaction, professional ability and reputation.
