On July 12, 2013, Pryor Cashman partner William Charron, co-chair of the firm’s Art Law Practice Group, presented on the topic of "Addressing Title and Choice of Law Issues in International Art Theft Cases" at Sotheby’s Art Institute in New York City.

Charron discussed the case of Bakalar v. Vavra (S.D.N.Y., aff’d, 2d Circuit 2012), where, by successful invocation of "laches" defense and successfully disproving Nazi theft, he obtained fully-affirmed final judgment after trial in favor of owner of Egon Schiele artwork alleged to have been stolen by Nazis during World War II. He presented on the history of the case and significance of its rulings.
