Haley Sylvester is a member of Pryor Cashman’s Private Client and Trusts + Estates Practices, where she counsels high and ultra-high net worth individuals and families on structuring and implementing sophisticated estate planning and efficient wealth transfer strategies, including for artists, actors, entrepreneurs, financiers, musicians, and more.
Haley applies her background in copyright law to a wide range of matters, holistically serving clients in creative fields in her private client practice. Using her experience in securities and financing, Haley brings a deep knowledge of financial instruments and markets to her practice, allowing her to better serve sophisticated clients. Additionally, her knowledge of corporate governance sharpens her work with clients’ family offices and their nonprofit organizations.
Haley previously taught as a Clinical Fellow at the Filmmakers Legal Clinic at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, where she served as the copyright, fair use, and financing expert. After joining Pryor Cashman, she co-authored an amicus brief to the U.S. Supreme Court in Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, Inc. v. Goldsmith.
Prior to joining the firm, Haley was a Research Fellow at the NYU School of Law Institute for Corporate Governance & Finance, where she worked with politicians, advocates, and academics on complex issues in public and private markets. She previously served as counsel to Commissioner Robert J. Jackson, Jr. at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, where she advised the Commissioner on novel and complex issues in securities regulation, financial regulation, and corporate governance. She began her legal career as a corporate finance associate at another major New York law firm.
