Pryor Cashman Counsel Joshua Greenberg, a member of the firm’s Media + Entertainment Group and the Digital Media, M+E Transactions + Financing, Film, TV + Podcast, and Trademark Practices, will be speaking on a panel titled “The Battle of the Book’s Derivative – An Exploration of Emerging Literary Adaptations,” presented by the Copyright Society of the USA.

Josh will join fellow panelists Jamie Coghill, Cecilia de la Campa, Suemyra Shah, and moderator Amy Mellman for a discussion on how emerging formats for the exploitation of literary works, such as full-cast audio productions and vertical shortform video, are opening new avenues for commercialization beyond traditional film and television and other legacy media.

The panel will explore how these new media formats fit within existing rights frameworks, what rights are implicated, and how new opportunities are shaping the negotiation and structuring of subsidiary rights deals. The conversation will also address the renewed importance of book-based merchandising as a valuable avenue for extending literary properties.

The panel is preapproved for CLE credit in California, New York, and Pennsylvania.
