Partner Joshua Zuckerberg Speaks to San Francisco Examiner About NFL Lockout
Partner Joshua Zuckerberg, a member of Pryor Cashman’s Labor and Employment Group, was interviewed by The San Francisco Examiner for its May 2, 2011 article on Sfexaminer.com entitled “Players, fans would benefit if NFL lockout were lifted.”
The players were winning when U.S. District Court Judge Susan Richard Nelson ruled against the lockout, but on April 29, 2011 the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled 2-1 to issue a temporary stay. Apparently the temporary stay was granted to give the court a chance to review Nelson’s decision.
Zuckerberg, who has been involved on both sides in sports labor negotiations, saw two main points that will be discussed by the appellate court: the legality of the lockout and if the case should be decided by the National Labor Relations Board. Also, the monetary loss if the lockout results in a lost season and players lose a full year of their playing careers.
