Pryor Cashman Managing Partner Ron Shechtman, who also chairs the firm’s Labor and Employment Group, spoke to MSNBC for its August 9, 2010 article “Tough economy poses challenge for addicts – Loss of job, inability to find work can make it harder to stay sober.”

The article discusses the termination of employees who have an addiction, such as alcoholism, and the difficulties that employees with addictions have finding new employment.

Shechtman told MSNBC: “You can’t fire someone for being an alcoholic unless he or she is drinking at work and unable to perform her job. The condition does not excuse that conduct at work.”
