Pryor Cashman LLP is pleased to announce that New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg proclaimed today, October 8, 2013, as "Pryor Cashman Day" to recognize the firm and its 50th anniversary. The firm also celebrated this milestone and honored firm Chairman and founder, Gideon Cashman, with a gala at New York’s legendary Pierre Hotel.

In the proclamation, Mayor Bloomberg heralds Pryor Cashman as “…a law firm that has done pioneering work.” He further notes, “Our city is stronger for being a place that not only attracts top intellectual and business talent, but also ensures that everyone who works hard and plays by the rules can have a fair chance at success. Throughout its first 50 years, Pryor Cashman has grown steadily while expertly serving big companies and small startups alike, and together, we salute its founders and extended family as we mark this momentous occasion.”

What began with a handshake between founding partners Pete Pryor and Gideon Cashman at the Friar’s Club in 1963 has grown to become one of the most respected firms in the country. A thriving enterprise of more than 130 partners, associates and counsel, the firm has an office in Los Angeles and is headquartered at 7 Times Square in the heart of New York City.

Over the years, Pryor Cashman has become a New York City institution. From helping a Korean immigrant turn one sandwich shop into an mini-empire, to guiding recording industry giants through the dynamic evolution of their business, to protecting the interests of New York’s Bravest, the firm’s work affects the City at every level.

“For every one of our last 50 years, the one constant has been Gideon Cashman, whose mark on our firm and its culture go far beyond his name. We have grown steadily over the years, thriving in the intensely competitive New York legal market, by staying true to our core values – to strive to be the best, and not the biggest, firm; to foster a culture that respects individuality and encourages innovation; and to practice with sound judgment and common sense. We are thrilled to be recognized by Mayor Bloomberg with "Pryor Cashman Day" and look forward to the next 50 years serving clients in New York and beyond,” said Ronald H. Shechtman, Pryor Cashman’s Managing Partner.
