Partner Robert J. deBrauwere, co-chair of Pryor Cashman’s Digital Media Group, spoke to the New York Post for its article, “Roger Goodell’s latest blunder could cost the league new, young fans.” The article appeared on October 13, 2015.

Legal and marketing experts stated that NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell’s clampdown on GIFs (Graphics Interchange Format) and game highlights on Twitter could be risky in that it might cut off potential new fans. Experts say that young people may not watch football on TV, but may come across the GIFs on Deadspin and SB Nation Twitter streams. Cutting off these streams may make them less likely to become fans.

“The NFL needs to be careful about how aggressive it is with its policing. It could end up cutting off its nose to spite its face,” said deBrauwere.
