Pryor Cashman’s Sarah Bell Participates In Webinar Panel Discussion On Litigation Risks Under The American with Disabilities Act (ADA)
Sarah E. Bell, a member of Pryor Cashman’s Litigation Group and Americans With Disabilities Act Defense practice, was a panelist on the July 15, 2015 Webinar “Litigation Risks Under the ADA: What You Need to Know to Protect Your Business in 2015.”
The American with Disabilities Act (ADA) has played an important role in protecting handicapped individuals from discrimination and ensuring equal opportunities and rights. This regulation, however also poses a risk to businesses that fail to comply with the regulations either in facilities or on the internet. The number of lawsuits has increased dramatically, many of which are insidious ‘drive-by lawsuits’ aimed at profiteering. Businesses will be wise to understand the requirements of the ADA and any state laws, upgrade their facilities to comply with the law, revise websites to comply, prepare strategies for law suits, and have disability experts and lawyers review their policies, procedures, facilities, and websites for compliance.
In this two hour, live, CLE webcast, Bell and a panel of thought leaders and practitioners assembled by The Knowledge Group discussed the very significant litigation risks under the ADA and provided a review of what businesses need to know to protect themselves.
