Biography

Partner Teresa Lee Co-Chairs Pryor Cashman’s Trademark Practice and is a recognized leader in the firm’s Intellectual Property, Media + Entertainment, and Litigation Groups, where she helps clients protect, enforce, and maximize the value of their brands in the U.S. and internationally.

Teresa has built a results-driven practice advising clients on the full lifecycle of trademark and copyright assets, including selection, clearance, registration, use, licensing, enforcement, dispute resolution, and strategic portfolio management. She regularly represents clients in opposition and cancellation proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB), manages contentious IP matters worldwide, and negotiates complex settlement, co-existence, and consent agreements that resolve disputes efficiently while preserving key business objectives and long-term brand priorities.

Clients turn to Teresa for her ability to translate complex trademark issues into practical, business-focused strategies. She manages thousands of trademarks worldwide for major portfolio clients, including Delta Galil and its related entities, the United States Golf Association (USGA), Major Food, Barrell Craft Spirits, LLC, The Levy Group, Inc., media and hospitality companies, financial institutions, and countless A-list recording artists, entertainers, celebrities and entertainment companies.  Across industries, she is trusted to manage sophisticated IP portfolios, clear new brands, resolve disputes, and protect valuable rights in the U.S. and internationally.

Teresa is also the firm’s go-to trademark lawyer for intellectual property due diligence in multi-million-dollar transactions. She oversees teams of trademark lawyers and paralegals on compressed timelines, coordinating high-volume portfolio reviews, identifying material risks, assessing chain of title and rights-clearance issues, and delivering practical, transaction-focused advice that enables clients and deal teams to make informed decisions quickly.

Teresa has also been recognized by leading industry publications for her trademark work, including World Trademark Review’s WTR 1000, which has highlighted her strength in prosecution strategy and her deep knowledge of complex issues before the USPTO.

Offering an Insider’s Perspective

Teresa’s prior experience as an examining attorney at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) gives clients a strategic advantage. Drawing on that insider perspective, she quickly identifies the issues most likely to affect registration, appeal, or enforcement outcomes and develops efficient paths forward. Her USPTO background gives her a sophisticated understanding of the factors that determine registrability for trademarks and service, collective, membership, and certification marks, enabling her to deliver focused advice that saves clients time and cost.

She is particularly effective in overcoming complex Office Action refusals, including likelihood of confusion, descriptiveness, surname and deceptiveness, and failure-to-function objections. Teresa develops persuasive prosecution strategies that position clients’ marks in their proper commercial context, distinguish cited registrations, demonstrate source-identifying significance, and address examiner concerns with targeted legal and factual support. Her experience allows her to identify when a refusal can be overcome through argument, evidence, amendments, or strategic compromise, and when clients are best served by pursuing an appeal, coexistence agreement, or alternative filing strategy.
