Partner Juergen R. Ostertag Speaks to German Commercial Daily Handelsblatt About Lawsuits Filed Against VW and Bosch
Juergen R. Ostertag, a partner in Pryor Cashman’s Corporate Group and leader of the firm’s German practice, spoke to the Handelsblatt, a German commercial daily, for its December 7, 2015 article, “Dieselgate Litigation; U.S. Attorneys Take Aim At Bosch.”
The article reports that the first lawsuit against the German auto parts supplier in the United States has been filed by a VW driver from New York. In his complaint, the driver alleges that VW’s alleged fraud “was aided and abetted by defendant Bosch, which created the software used in Volkswagen's defeat device,” and that Bosch was being part of a conspiracy.
Ostertag told Handelsbatt that there is a litigation industry in the United States and that the lawsuit against Volkswagen could drag in other suppliers as well.
