In the wake of the May 1, 2007 announcement by Rupert Murdoch's News Corp. that it made a bid to buy Dow Jones & Co., publisher of The Wall Street Journal, Reuters published an article about how analysts, investors and experts viewed the news. Among the people quoted were Stephen Goodman, a partner in Pryor Cashman's Corporate Group. 

In response to a question as to why Murdoch and New Corp. would go public with the bid, Goodman responded: "Obviously by going public, News Corp. is trying to increase the pressure on the board to do something. News Corp. must have felt that the Dow Jones board was not being responsive."
