Pryor Cashman Associate Sophia Sofferman, a member of the Media + Entertainment Litigation Group, served as a lecturer in Music Law for practicing attorneys visiting the University of Miami from ISDE – Higher Institute of Law and Economics in Madrid, in their pursuit of a master’s degree.

During this course, Sophia’s session provided an interactive overview of the business and legal aspects of the music industry – from detailing the terms of management agreements, recording agreements, publishing agreements, and asset purchase agreements to clearing a release, handling samples, and negotiating deals – while incorporating a basic understanding of the business. Sophia also coached the students and conducted interactive negotiations.

Sophia used her experience as a Music and Entertainment attorney and her time working in the industry to create and present the curriculum for the course.
