Technical Problems at State Department Delay Issuance of Visas Around the World Into Foreseeable Future
Share This Page:
The Bureau of Consular Affairs has confirmed that it continues to experience technical problems with its visa systems. The systems are not expected to be online before next week. The problems stem from a hardware failure in a State Department facility in the United States on June 9. The failure is preventing the Department from processing and transmitting biometric data checks at visa-issuing embassies and consulates.
Once the system is back online, it is expected that the backlog of applications will cause additional delays at consular posts. Foreign nationals who require a visa for urgent travel to the United States, should contact the professional with whom they work at Pryor Cashman.
