Jacob B. Orgel is a member of Pryor Cashman’s Litigation Group.
Jacob’s practice focuses on complex commercial matters involving intellectual property, constitutional, corporate, and employment law. He has experience representing clients in federal and state trial and appellate courts, arbitrations, mediations, and pre-litigation negotiations. Jacob represents businesses and individuals in a wide range of industries and disciplines, including media and entertainment, finance, healthcare, fashion, real estate, and hospitality.
Notable Representations
Jacob’s notable representations include:
- A New York City contractor and several hotels in multi-jurisdictional litigation involving constitutional and civil rights claims arising from attempts by municipalities to impede performance of contracts providing for accommodation of asylum seekers;
- An international bank in successfully deterring a federal regulatory enforcement action partly on the basis that the subject regulations were unconstitutionally vague and violative of the bank’s due process rights;
- A former member of a limited liability company operating a prominent network of nursing and assisted living facilities in litigation under Delaware law and successful summary judgment proceedings concerning the wrongful removal of the member from the company;
- Major record labels and music publishing companies in securing dismissal of copyright claims alleging joint authorship or infringement of dozens of high-charting songs;
- Companies in the fashion, technology, healthcare, and home and automotive product industries asserting claims of trademark infringement, including a successful outcome in litigation against Meta Platforms, Inc.;
- A globally renowned jeweler in reversing the rejection of an application for registration with the U.S. Copyright Office of an award-winning wristwatch;
- A prominent New York real estate entrepreneur in litigation and arbitration concerning the management of corporate investment vehicles and administration of a related trust; and
- A hospitality-industry employee in Fair Labor Standards Act and New York Labor Law claims against an employer that engaged in unlawful discrimination and subjected its employees to a hostile work environment.

Beyond litigation, Jacob advances clients’ objectives by providing valuable transactional and regulatory advice, including:
- A leading financial services company operating a cryptocurrency exchange in matters related to subpoena responses, government investigations, and compliance with state and federal financial industry regulations; and
- A live performance special effects startup in matters related to corporate formation, intellectual property protection, and service contract development.
Capitol Hill Experience
While in law school, Jacob served as a law clerk for a member of the U.S. House of Representatives (2022) and for the House Committee on Oversight and Reform (2021). Jacob also served as a legal intern for Protect Our Defenders (2020), a Capitol Hill-adjacent legal services nonprofit representing survivors of sexual assault and discrimination in the military.
