Jeffrey L. Snow is the chair of Pryor Cashman’s Patent Practice and a member of the firm’s Intellectual Property and Litigation Groups. Jeffrey combines deep intellectual property prosecution and counseling knowledge with significant commercial litigation experience to provide end-to-end service for a wide range of clients. He is an experienced litigator who has served as lead counsel in numerous proceedings before federal courts and administrative tribunals.

Jeffrey's practice focuses on intellectual property law, including patent, trademark, and copyright litigation, prosecution, opinions, licensing, and due diligence support for corporate transactions. His litigation experience includes serving as trial counsel in numerous commercial and intellectual property cases, representing clients in various federal district and appellate courts and before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) and the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB). He brings specific experience in patent, trademark, and copyright infringement cases, Markman claim construction proceedings; trade secret misappropriation claims; and matters related to the Lanham Act, to name a few.

Jeffrey’s experience includes: 

  • Uni-Systems, LLC v. United States Tennis Association (Eastern District of New York). Lead counsel for engineering firm defendant in a case involving patent infringement and complex trade secret misappropriation claims, bringing the case to a successful resolution through mediation.
  • Dolce Vita Intimates LLC v. ThirdLove, Inc. (Trademark Trial and Appeal Board).  Represented trademark applicant in an opposition proceeding with a counterclaim for cancellation of opposer’s prior registration.
  • Telebrands Corp. v. Harvest Direct, LLC (District of New Jersey). Brought a motion for a temporary restraining order based on Lanham Act and unfair competition claims.
  • Telebrands Corp. v. Ragner Technology Corp. (Patent Trial and Appeal Board).  Prepared petition for patent post-grant review.
  • DDR Holdings, LLC v. Hotels.com (Eastern District of Texas). Worked on trial and appeal of a patent infringement case, which resulted in often-cited Federal Circuit precedent on patent subject matter eligibility.
  • Monotype Imaging, Inc. v. Bitstream Inc. (Northern District of Illinois). Lead trial counsel in successful defense of copyright infringement claims, trademark infringement, and violations of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.
  • Amazin’ Raisins International, Inc. v. Ocean Spray Cranberries, Inc. (Federal Circuit). Briefed and argued successful defense of Federal Circuit appeal of a patent infringement action.
  • Egyptian Goddess, Inc. v. Swisa, Inc. (Federal Circuit). Wrote briefs for successful appeal with en banc hearing in the seminal case on design patent infringement.
  • Net MoneyIN, Inc. v. Mellon Financial (District of Arizona). Lead counsel at the trial level for financial services defendant in a case that defined important issues of patent law on appeal. 

The technical fields in which Jeffrey works include electrical and mechanical devices, computer software and processing, wireless communications, optics, and optical systems, business methods, and medical devices and procedures.

Prior to joining Pryor Cashman, Jeffrey was the first Director of Intellectual Property for Barnes & Noble, Inc. He was a partner at both an intellectual property boutique and a large international law firm. His clients range from individuals and entrepreneurs to small technology companies and large corporations.
