Meghan represents clients from the real estate and hospitality sectors in general commercial and contractual disputes, including disputes with property and liability insurers. Her recent work has included:

• Defending the lender in an adversary proceeding arising from borrower’s bankruptcy relating to a Miami hotel, ultimately securing the property for lender through a successful credit bid.
• Defending the principals of a family real estate business against shareholder derivative claims involving breach of fiduciary duty and Delaware trust law, including developing the pre-trial strategy that successfully excluded claims alleging more than $75 million in damages. 
• Representing a Canadian REIT in a dispute against the management company overseeing the owner’s portfolio of nearly 70 hotels.
• Counseling numerous policyholder clients in connection with COVID-19 related claims for business interruption insurance coverage.

Meghan also has significant trial experience, serving as a member of trial teams that secured judgments or other favorable results on matters including:

• A $13 million trial victory for Virgin Hotels following a month-long bench trial, and the successful defense of the judgment through appeal to the Supreme Court of California.
• Second-chairing the trial of a commercial holdover proceeding on behalf of a landlord, the for-profit developer in a housing development fund corporation created under the New York Private Housing Finance Law, against the tenant, its not-for-profit development partner, and defending the judgment through appeal.
• An arbitration concerning the tax deductibility of multimillion-dollar historical preservation facade easements, which led to a favorable settlement for the client, the owner of multiple buildings.

Pro Bono Work

In 2013, the New York City Bar Justice Center awarded her the Jeremy G. Epstein Award for Pro Bono Service for her work recovering hundreds of thousands of dollars in homeowners’ insurance proceeds for New Yorkers affected by Superstorm Sandy.

More recently, Meghan co-authored an amicus curiae brief to the U.S. Supreme Court on behalf of a survivor of gay conversion therapy.

Academic Achievements

Meghan is a 2012 cum laude graduate of Fordham University School of Law, where she served as an Intraschool Competition Editor for the Brendan Moore Trial Advocacy Center.
