Pryor Cashman Associates to Present Oral Argument at Second Circuit Moot Court Program
Associates Danielle E. Tepper and Jennifer S. Garrett, both members of Pryor Cashman's Intellectual Property, Litigation and Media + Entertainment Groups, have been selected to participate in the 3rd Annual Second Circuit Moot Court Argument CLE Program. Second Circuit Judge Denny Chin, along with District Judges William F. Kuntz and Margo K. Brodie, will preside over the competition, which will take place on July 12, 2016 at The Thurgood Marshall U.S. Courthouse in downtown Manhattan.
As part of this program, co-hosted by NYIPLA and the Second Circuit, Tepper and Garrett will compete against adversaries from three other law firms in a moot court oral argument derived from the seminal "Redskins" and "The Slants" trademark cases. The hypothetical case will involve First Amendment, due process and trademark issues in the context of a proposed trademark and a group of aggrieved individuals. The judges will hear argument, retire to conference the case and return to the bench to voice their comments.
Tepper and Garrett will be coached by Pryor Cashman partner Dyan Finguerra-DuCharme. Finguerra-DuCharme is a member of the firm's Intellectual Property, Litigation and Media + Entertainment Groups.
