Pryor Cashman Lawyers Dennis Sughrue and Daniel Devine Named Finalists for 2026 New York Legal Awards Real Estate Transaction of the Year
Pryor Cashman has been named a finalist for Real Estate Transaction of the Year at the New York Law Journal’s New York Legal Awards.
The recognition honors Dennis Sughrue, Co-Chair of the firm’s Real Estate Group, along with partner Daniel Devine, for their representation of Atlas Hospitality in the redevelopment of 711 Seventh Avenue in the heart of Times Square. The transaction took the form of a ground lease for the site, pursuant to which Atlas redeveloped the premises as a hotel, restaurant and retail project equipped with vivid signage. In an unusual twist, the ground lease included a provision whereby the parties agreed that, upon completion, they would remove the Seventh Avenue-facing retail unit from the leased premises, so that the landlord would own it outright. Thus, the consideration for the lease included not just rent, but the delivery of a new retail unit to the landlord. The transaction culminated with the opening this year of the 419 room voco Times Square-Broadway Hotel. “voco” is a brand of IHG Hotels and Resorts.
The New York Law Journal's New York Legal Awards recognize attorneys, law firms, and legal professionals whose work and achievements have made a significant impact on the legal industry. The Real Estate Transaction of the Year category highlights notable transactions and the legal teams behind them.
Winners will be announced at the New York Legal Awards ceremony on September 3rd, 2026.
