Pryor Cashman’s nationally-recognized Media + Entertainment Group recently represented filmmaker David Gordon Green in a deal for Apple under which he will direct and executive produce a new television series about acclaimed 19th-century poet Emily Dickinson.

The series will adopt a comedic take on Dickinson’s world, exploring the constraints of society, gender and family from the perspective of a budding writer who doesn’t fit in with her own time. Hailee Steinfeld will star in the title role.

Green recently directed the 2017 Jake Gyllenhaal drama Stronger, along with episodes of the Amazon comedy Red Oaks and the HBO series Vice Principals. He is also known for directing the films Pineapple Express, Joe and Prince Avalanche

Partner James Janowitz, head of Pryor Cashman’s Media + Entertainment Group, and Counsel Anne Atkinson advised Green on the deal.
