Pryor Cashman Welcomes Partner Ilan Weiser to Its Labor + Employment Group in New York
Pryor Cashman announced today that Ilan Weiser has joined the firm’s New York office as a partner in the Labor + Employment Group. Ilan joins from Ellenoff Grossman & Schole LLP, where he was a partner.
Ilan represents businesses of all sizes in litigation brought by their employees in both federal and state courts, as well as in disputed matters before government agencies. He has litigated hundreds of employment claims involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wage and hour violations. Ilan also counsels business leaders on employment law questions concerning performance management, medical leave and accommodations, hiring and termination, pay practices, and more.
“Ilan is a highly strategic addition to our Labor + Employment Group, and his arrival will help accelerate the firm’s continued growth in this area,” said David Rose, managing partner of Pryor Cashman. “He brings valuable experience and a wide-ranging perspective to his representation of both employers and executives.”
Earlier in his career, Ilan represented employees in labor and employment litigation, giving him insight from both prosecuting and defending employment disputes. In addition to his litigation and counseling practices, he supports his clients’ employment law compliance efforts by drafting customized employment agreements and company policies, and conducting trainings for business executives and management on workplace best practices.
“Ilan has spent nearly two decades building a practice that covers the full spectrum of what employers need, from defending complex litigation in state and federal courts to counseling management on the employment law questions that arise every day,” said Ronald Shechtman, co-chair of Pryor Cashman’s Labor + Employment Group. “His experience on both sides of that equation makes him a tremendous addition to our group.”
“The breadth and depth of Pryor Cashman’s Labor + Employment Group made the firm a natural fit for me, and provides a strong platform to service my existing clients and continue growing my practice,” said Ilan. “Employers today are navigating one of the most challenging legal landscapes in memory, with an ever-expanding patchwork of laws governing the workplace. At the same time, employees are more informed about their rights and more willing to take legal action against their employers than ever before. I am looking forward to bringing my experience in employment litigation and management counseling to a team that shares my commitment to reducing legal exposure for clients, while helping them build workplaces that are both business-minded and supportive of their employees.”
Ilan frequently presents to business executives and their human resources teams on industry-specific employment law issues affecting their operations, including retail, advertising and marketing, entertainment, and media. His practice also has a particular focus on the hospitality industry, defending and advising leading restaurants, hotels, music venues, and nightlife establishments in class and collective litigation involving claims of unpaid wages, tip misappropriation, and misclassification. Ilan also defends, advises, and negotiates on behalf of executives in transition on issues related to breach of contract and restrictive covenants.
