Donald Zakarin, chair of Pryor Cashman’s Litigation Group and co-leader of the Music Litigation practice, has been named one of 2018’s “Top Music Lawyers” by Billboard.

Earlier this year, Zakarin - whose clients include the three major music groups, artists Bruno Mars and Ed Sheeran, and executives Lyor Cohen and Clive Davis - led a team of Pryor Cashman attorneys that achieved higher rates for music publishers from on-demand subscription services like Spotify and Apple Music after a six-week trial before the Copyright Royalty Board.

“This was a huge battle, a huge undertaking, and particularly gratifying...because it was a great team effort that helps writers and publishers get closer to a fair share of streaming revenue,” Zakarin told Billboard. “It’s not the end of that fight, but it’s a good solid step in the right direction.”
