Bagley Says AI Will Be a Major Copyright Issue in 2024

Pryor Cashman Partner Ross Bagley, a member of the Litigation and Intellectual Property Groups, spoke with Law360 about the outlook for copyright litigation in 2024.

In “Copyright Cases To Watch In 2024,” Ross notes that several major lawsuits are pending at the beginning of the year, each of which allege that artificial intelligence (AI) platforms are infringing on copyrights when they use protected material to train their models—and they are unlikely to be resolved quickly or easily:

“I expect these cases are going to work their way up through the appellate courts and likely eventually to the Supreme Court for more clarity,” said Ross Bagley, a partner at Pryor Cashman LLP.
