Legal 500 Recognizes Pryor Cashman as Leading Law Firm for Eighth Consecutive Year

Pryor Cashman is pleased to announce that The Legal 500 United States 2015 edition has recognized the firm for its notable work in copyright law, immigration law and mergers and acquisitions. Leading litigators Brad Rose, Donald Zakarin, Frank Scibilia and Tom Ferber were recognized for successfully representing numerous high-profile entertainment sector clients. Corporate partners Ali Panjwani, Eric Hellige and John Crowe were recognized for their M&A middle market work on transactions under $500 million. Immigration partners Colleen Caden, Avram Morell and Alice Stock were recognized as leading lawyers in the firm’s immigration group, serving clients in a variety of areas.

According to the guide, in the Intellectual Property – Copyright category, “Pryor Cashman LLP’s practice has a steady flow of work from its many clients in the music industry, including EMI, Sony/BMG, Universal Music Group, and Capitol Records, and is also frequently instructed by film studios.” The Legal 500 highlights recent successes such as the multimillion-dollar jury verdict the firm obtained on behalf of EMI Music Publishing against MP3tunes founder Michael Robertson for willful copyright infringement, and representation of The Weinstein Company, Millennium Films and other defendants against copyright claims regarding the motion picture Lovelace. 

In the Immigration section, The Legal 500 commentary notes that “Pryor Cashman LLP provides ‘very good service’. Leveraging the wider firm’s burgeoning entertainment practice, it has been handling several instructions for music industry clients. It also works closely with the real estate department to advise investors on the EB-5 immigrant visa.” The guide mentions the firm’s prominence within the sports sector, particularly with ECHL (formerly the East Coast Hockey League), and its service to various sports teams, players and agents. “Recent work examples include advising on I-9 compliance training and assisting with the immigration aspects of a merger.”

In the M&A: Middle Market category, the guide states that “Pryor Cashman LLP is known for its core mid-market focus, and the firm’s corporate attorneys represent Fortune 500 companies, institutional and entrepreneurial clients and start-ups, in addition to limited liability companies and partnerships, non-profit organizations and private corporations… Highlights included advising insurance brokerage firm DeWitt Stern on the sale of select assets to an affiliate of Risk Strategies, and advising Naturex, a French public company, on its acquisition of Vegetable Juices. It also assisted Henry Schein on its acquisition of Lincoln Dental Supply’s assets from Keystone Industries, and acted for ChinaSoft International on its acquisition of Catapult Systems.”
