Vault Names Pryor Cashman Top Midsize Firm
For the third consecutive year, legal-ranking publication Vault has named Pryor Cashman a “Top 150 Under 150” firm. The Vault Top 150 list debuted in 2015 and “recognizes outstanding law firms with fewer attorneys, but no less expertise, than the global megafirms that often dominate rankings.”
Pryor Cashman was also awarded – for the second straight year – top “Midsize Quality of Life,” with Vault noting the high quality substantive work given to associates.
High Praise for “Full-Service” Firm that “Serves the Mid-Market in Nearly Every Way”
Touting the firm’s full-service capabilities, Vault wrote: “Pryor Cashman has brushed legal shoulders with some of the biggest icons in pop culture, including Bob Dylan, Tony Bennett, Elton John and Lady Gaga, though the firm has morphed into a full-service [shop] that serves the mid-market in nearly every way. Their client list is extremely wide-ranging in both transactional and litigation work.”
Vault also recognized the firm’s rapidly growing California office, which “doubled in size over the last year.”
Our Preeminent Entertainment Practice
Attorneys in our New York and Los Angeles offices were singled out as leaders in the area of entertainment law. Vault acknowledged the firm’s “accomplished” practice, which “represents some of the brightest stars in the music industry” in both copyright battles, social media investments and fashion ventures.
Our work on behalf of the original cast members of the Broadway megahit Hamilton was also honored: “[Managing Partner Ronald] Shechtman and the Labor and Employment Group represented the actors to bring [them] a share of the smash musical’s profits.”
Associate Life at Pryor Cashman
Associates at Pryor Cashman benefit from a nearly one-to-one partner-to-associate ratio, which allows them to work directly with partners from the onset of their careers. And because matters are staffed leanly – with rarely more than two or three lawyers on a given project – associates get substantive, real world experience from day one; writing briefs, arguing motions, drafting corporate documents, and otherwise rolling their sleeves up to help meaningfully with the work of practicing law.
As one associate told Vault: “I am very satisfied as I am challenged every day by the work, given a great deal of responsibility and made to feel appreciated by co-workers and supervisors.”

“Top 150 Under 150” Methodology
To determine the “Top 150 Under 150,” Vault’s editorial and research teams pored through Vault survey data, news stories, trade journals and other legal publications; spoke with lawyers in the field and reviewed other published rankings. Vault editors also assessed each firm for prestige, quality of life and growth opportunities, and then narrowed down the results to come up with a list of 150 law firms known for providing top-notch service and delivering big results.
