Counsel W. Wilder Knight II, a member of Pryor Cashman’s Media + Entertainment and Intellectual Property Groups, was recently elected to the Board of Directors of the Oceanic Preservation Society (“OPS”).  OPS is a non-profit organization which promotes marine and environmental conservation through film, photography, social media and activism.

Knight – along with several of his colleagues at Pryor Cashman – has been a longtime advisor to the organization, having served as counsel on numerous projects, including the Academy Award-winning documentary, The Cove, and most recently, as Associate Producer of the Emmy-nominated film, Racing Extinction.  He also served as counsel when OPS produced projection events on the side of the Empire State Building and St. Peter’s Cathedral at the Vatican; these projections of photographs of extinct and near extinct species brought attention to how enviromental pollution and global warming are threatening the existence of many thousands of species.

In addition to representing many preeminent figures in the entertainment industry, Knight has lectured around the world on topics ranging from motion picture finance in the digital age to the importance of documentary film as an independent journalistic voice during a time when the media is heavily influenced by corporations and government.
