Partner Christopher Mellevold, a member of Pryor Cashman’s Banking + Finance, Corporate, Investment Management and Media + Entertainment Groups, facilitates lending arrangements for U.S. and foreign-owned banks, investment funds and entertainment-related ventures.

With a focus on bank lending, debt financing and film financing, Chris represents large and mid-sized financial institutions, private equity funds, film distributors, production companies, producers and entertainers. He handles secured and unsecured lending transactions, asset-based lending, Investment Company Act of 1940 financing, equipment leasing, acquisition financing and structured-finance transactions.

Overcoming Complex Challenges Through Collaboration

Chris believes that a collaborative approach to solving problems is at the heart of all successful transactions. He helps his clients forge nonadversarial alliances with their borrowers and negotiates arrangements that satisfy the objectives of both parties.

A veteran of major deals, Chris represented a large U.S. bank as the lead financier and agent in a $2.9 billion credit facility to a family of mutual funds. The complex cross-border arrangement involved more than 300 borrowers organized in the U.S., the U.K. and Ireland, 18 lenders and five currencies. The credit facility allowed the lenders to offer the funds the advantage of same-day borrowing as well as late-day borrowing in several currencies.
