Partner Eric Sherman is co-chair of Pryor Cashman’s Residential Real Estate Practice and is a member of both the Litigation and Real Estate Groups, emphasizing commercial and residential real estate litigation.

With extensive experience in complex real estate disputes, Eric’s practice spans the residential and commercial sectors, making him a versatile advocate for a wide array of clients. These include Fortune 500 companies, luxury retailers, nationally renowned restaurant groups, developers, lenders, cooperative and condominium boards, and individual shareholders and unit owners on a full spectrum of matters concerning ownership, operation, and use of real estate.

Residential Real Estate

As co-chair of the Residential Real Estate Practice, Eric leverages his extensive experience in condominium and cooperative law, catering to a dual clientele that includes both cooperative corporations and condominium boards, as well as tenant-shareholders and individual unit owners. His comprehensive legal services encompass offering corporate and governance advice to boards and resolving disputes from both perspectives.

Whether representing boards in enforcing constituent and sponsor obligations, navigating board elections, or advocating for unit owners and tenant-shareholders in disputes with boards and sponsors—particularly over construction defects and other related issues—Eric’s work spans some of New York City’s most prestigious apartment buildings.

Beyond his condominium and cooperative law practice, Eric also represents institutional landlords and individual tenants in lease disputes, including nonpayment, holdover, nonprimary residence, and succession rights proceedings, as well as subletting and assignment disputes. He also represents owners in disputes with contractors, architects, and other professionals over design- and construction-related issues.

Commercial Real Estate

In the commercial real estate arena, Eric’s practice includes a range of notable clients, from international fashion and luxury brands and acclaimed designers to music companies, restaurant groups, and leading parking garage operators. This diverse client base encompasses some of the most prestigious companies in the United States and beyond. In addition to advising on leasing and ownership-related matters, he also advises clients on transactional disputes, partnership disputes, brokerage disputes, and construction litigation, as well as many facets of daily business operations.
