Pryor Cashman Partner Karen Platt, a member of the Family Law Group, gave a presentation at a program hosted by The New York State Judicial Institute on the recognition of foreign marriages and divorces.

Karen joined Hon. Matthew Cooper (Ret.) to discuss how New York courts evaluate foreign divorce judgments and marriages, including principles of comity, jurisdictional requirements, and public policy considerations. The panel also addressed the treatment of religious marriages and divorces, as well as the enforceability of agreements such as mahrs.

The program offered practical guidance for attorneys navigating cross-border family law issues.
