Pryor Cashman partner Bertrand Fry, co-head of the firm's Investment Management practice, and partner Edward Normandin, with the assistance of Corporate Associates Eric Wisotsky and Vedad Tabich, represented the Toronto-based Guardian Capital Group in an acquisition agreement with Agincourt Capital Management. Additional support was provided by Tax Group Associate Taylor Weinstein and Investment Management/Corporate Groups Associate Caleb Karpay. The deal closed on October 1, 2020.

Under the agreement, Guardian has acquired a 70% ownership interest in the Virginia-based investment management company, Agincourt. The acquisition is expected to increase Guardian's assets under management by approximately $7 billion and to both broaden Guardian's service locations and expand the diversity of its portfolio. Both Guardian and Agincourt are SEC-registered investment advisers.
