Pryor Cashman secured a win for client ALM Media, publisher of Law.com, and the Florida Bar in the Third District Court of Appeals in Florida earlier this week, when the court refused to revive Miami lawyer Jose Yeyille’s $5 billion defamation lawsuit over an article that he alleged caused him irreparable reputational damage. The article, which discussed a prior legal action that Yeyille had filed against a doctor and a nurse, was later republished by the Florida Bar.

After reviewing Yeyille’s brief, the appeals court concluded that “no preliminary basis for reversal has been demonstrated” and affirmed an order dismissing reputational claims against ALM Media and the Florida Bar. Pryor Cashman partner Brendan Everman led the team in this win, with the support of partners Rob deBrauwere and Shane Stroud in New York.
