LaManque Talks to Law360 About Joining Pryor Cashman L+E Group
Pryor Cashman Counsel Wendy LaManque, a member of the Labor + Employment Group, spoke to Law360 about joining the firm this month.
In “Musician’s Guild Director Joins Pryor Cashman In NY,” Wendy describes her decision to leave her role as Counsel and Director of Organizational Compliance for the American Guild of Musical Artists (AGMA):
“I was so impressed by the kindness and professionalism of everyone with whom I interacted at the firm, and of course the stunning views from the 40th floor above Times Square,” LaManque said. “When I was approached by a recruiter about the position and further researched Pryor Cashman, I was struck by the entrepreneurial spirit of the firm, the opportunities for career advancement and the fact that they were looking for someone with experience representing labor unions — it seemed like a perfect fit.”
She also talked about her work at AGMA and how it prepared her for the labor matters she’ll be working on at the firm:
During her time with AGMA, LaManque said, she worked as the lead negotiator in bargaining with more than a dozen ballet and opera companies including the New York City Ballet. Internally, she added, she worked on a full overhaul of AGMA’s constitution, bylaws and policies; worked with a panel of infectious disease experts during the COVID-19 pandemic to design and implement COVID protocols to get its members safely back to work; and oversaw the union's national elections.
“The dizzying number of negotiations I successfully concluded throughout my time at AGMA helped me develop a deep understanding of the interests that both labor and management bring to the bargaining table, how those interests inform their positions and proposals and how to navigate challenging and often emotionally charged issues to get to a fair deal,” LaManque said.
